Cathy Harris Releases “9 Easy-to-Read E-books” for .99 Each and Launches a “Let’s Read” Campaign
Business Owner Cathy Harris is announcing the release of “9 Easy-To-Read E-books” –and launching a “Let-Read” campaign. Cathy is the CEO, President and Publisher of Angels Press, P.O. Box 5288, Atlanta, GA 31107, (770) 873-2072, http://www.AngelsPress.com, info@AngelsPress.com, an empowerment and publishing company created in 2005 -- which provides motivational life-changing tools to take control of your own life.
Cathy’s “Easy-to-Read” Kindle E-books has been released just in time for Christmas and the New Year and is available for only .99 each. Kindle books can be purchased in their Amazon Kindle Stores for use with the Amazon Kindle, Kindle Cloud Reader, and Kindle Applications for PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone 7.
FREE Kindle applications can be downloaded here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000493771
Remember every book in America is on Amazon.com and over 80% of their books only cost $5.00 and below. For those of you who don't like shopping online because of identity theft and fraud --Amazon.com has a good reputation and history. However, many banks do advise customers to obtain 2 credit cards or 2 debit cards and use one ONLY to shop online.
Also if you buy a young person an e-reader –it’s best to have an empty debit card connected to the e-reader --so they can’t order books without their parent’s consent –or in case they hit the “buy button” by mistake. This is a win - win for everyone.
On average, states are spending more on prisons than on higher education. It is sad that states are finding it easier to contribute to incarcerating our boys and girls than educating them. Some of the alarming statistics and why this “Let’s Read” campaign is needed:
• If kids are not reading by 1st grade or know their timetables by 3rd grade they are already behind and many will never catch up.
• If kids fail the 3rd grade especially black boys –many cities use these statistics to build prisons --so schools are serving as feeders into the prison sys¬tem.
• Over 60% of students will drop out of school – 70% in some areas.
• Over 60% of students who graduate from school –read at a 6th grade levels (most read at levels 4 or 5 grades behind)
• If you can’t read then you can’t fill out a job or college application or start a business.
The campaign’s goals are to instill “A Joy for Reading” back into the lives of as many people as possible –as we attempt to raise the “reading levels” in most families. There is increasing evidence that parental beliefs and attitudes about reading and the opportunities parents provide their children in reading can greatly influence children's reading development.
We are offering our low-cost line of empowerment e-books as a selection for families to read and get back into the driver’s seat in 2012. We are asking families to look over the following list and implement as many ideas as possible into their own families:
1. Commit to reading (paperback books, e-books, articles on the internet, etc.) for 30 minutes to an hour or more everyday.
2. Commit to reading to your kids everyday or make sure they have someone to read to them.
3. Allow kids 10 years old and older to read to their younger and older siblings and relatives and friends.
4. Start reading clubs in your family and in the community.
5. Commit to taking your kids to neighborhood libraries at least once a week.
6. Volunteer with libraries to come in and read to kids.
7. Buy educational toys that teach kids how to read (Leap Frog (http://www.leapfrog.com/tag), Hooked on Phonics (http://www.hookedonphonics.com), Amazon ‘Kindle’ (www.Amazon.com), Barnes and Noble ‘Nook’ (www.BarnesandNoble.com), iPad, etc.
8. Work with schools in your area and volunteer to help kids read during the day or in an after-school program.
9. Take young adults to ‘speed reading courses’ at community colleges and buy speed-reading books (paperback or e-books).
10. Volunteer to read to sick kids in hospitals.
11. Volunteer to read to Senior citizens at Senior Citizen Centers.
12. Buy a home dictionary for your family and use www.dictionary.com on the internet often.
13. Commit to starting “tutoring businesses” at home or open “learning centers” in communities. To learn how read “How To Take Control of Your Own Life: A Self-Help Guide to Starting Your Own Business” (Series 2) (www.HowToTakeControl.com).
